How National Fitness Campaign Schedules Their Outdoor Classes

Summary

National Fitness Campaign recently created an app called Fitness Court to engage with people who are using the outdoor gym NFC is setting up all over the United States. By 2022, NFC will be operating in over 1,000 cities and schools nationwide! They saw a need to provide free programming and teach people how to use the equipment effectively and engage them in free outdoor fitness classes in their neighborhood.

NFC’s developers were able to build and test integration with their iOS and Android applications in a few weeks using OnSched API.

Users can now watch tutorials and book classes with Fitness Court Ambassadors from within the mobile application, supporting NFC’s mission to make world-class fitness free for everyone

A Scheduling Solution for Classes

OnSched was initially founded to address the real-world needs of service businesses by allowing their customers to book appointments online - streamlining the scheduling process. It started as a scheduling solution for local tattoo shops, but soon we saw the need for similar software in other industries.

OnSched allows anybody to build a complex application on top of our open Rest API. An integrated solution however will require developers who can work on the software on your side. Open-box solutions are also available with easy integration via iFrame.

“OnSched is the backbone for an all-new experience that's a big bet for us. Bookings per week per Fitness Court (outdoor gym) is our primary KPI.”

Jonathan Fudem, Product Manager at NFC

Using the OnSched API, NFC’s developers in collaboration with OnSched developers were able to build and test iOS and Android applications. Requirements included: a seamless registration user experience, an easy-to-use management backend, a trainer check-in interface, and public-facing web-landing pages. Within a month, we had both versions ready and deployed on the App Store and Google Play.

Once designated administrators for each Fitness Court location set up their accounts, schedule classes, app users can sign up to attend classes at the Fitness Court nearest to them.

National Fitness Campaign released their revamped Fitness Court App in the App Store in July 2019, and attending classes, led by featured trainers and Ambassadors is one of the main features.
